What Shapes and Guides Us
At Journey Village Church, we exist to invite people to live the way of Christ—through Christ-Encounter, Formation, Community, and Mission. These movements represent the rhythms and directions that shape our life together as a community of faith.
Each movement reflects a dimension of following Jesus that we believe is essential for a vibrant, transformative faith. Together, they form a holistic picture of what it means to be disciples of Christ in our world today.
"A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of."
John 10:10 (The Message)
This promise of abundant life in Christ is our anchor and our hope. We long to be vessels of this promise, embodying and sharing the abundant life that Christ Himself offers. The Village Movements are our way of living into this reality.
The Village Movements
Movement Upward (Worship)
We are anchored in the truth that we were created for worship—to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Our greatest joy is found in glorifying Him and delighting in His presence. This is our call to worship, the very life we were made for.
Movement Inward (Wholeness)
We believe that Christ invites us into a journey of salvation, healing, and restoration—a transformation that touches every part of our being. As His life takes root within us, we are shaped by the Spirit and begin to bear His fruit.
Movement Withward (Community)
We embrace the truth that faith is lived in community, for none of us are the body of Christ alone. We grow as we give and receive grace, share burdens, and celebrate joys. In community, our gifts take shape, our love becomes visible, and together we become a living witness of Christ's presence.
Movement Downward (Service)
At the end of His ministry, Jesus washed His disciples' feet and called us to the same way of love. For us at the Village, we believe that true greatness is found in humility, as we follow Christ who came not to be served but to serve.
Movement Outward (Missional)
We believe that as followers of Jesus, we are a sent people—called to the poor, to make disciples, and to be salt and light in the world. Faith is never private; it overflows into our neighborhoods, workplaces, and even to the ends of the earth.
Movement Backward (Rooted)
We stand in the truth that to know where we're going, we must first look back at where we've been. God's story of grace—from creation to Christ to the promised new heaven and new earth—now includes us, and we root ourselves in His Word to be shaped as His people.
Movement Forward (Journey)
We affirm with conviction that God has ordained a purpose for each of us today, and as we live it out, we join His work of shaping the future He desires. We are not called merely to exist but to leave fingerprints of faith, hope, and love where we are planted.
