Welcome to Journey Village Church
Journey Village Church was born out of a burning vision to see people encounter Christ and step into the life He gives—real and eternal life that restores what is broken, heals what is wounded, and overflows with more and better life than we ever dreamed. Our calling is to invite people to live the way of Christ through encounter, formation, community, and mission.
In November 2019, the vision took its first step forward, when Pastors Nash and Muthoni were commissioned by International Christian Centre Nairobi (ICCN) to plant a church in Kikuyu as part of the Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG). Leaving behind the familiar rhythms of ministry at JourneyFamily Church in Garden Estate, they stepped into the adventure of planting a new community of faith in the beautiful town of Kikuyu.
Early in 2020, a small core team began to gather, but soon the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown interrupted plans and scattered expectations. What could have ended the story became, instead, the soil for resilience and creativity.
Determined not to lose momentum, the team launched a weekly Village Gathering on Zoom. Though physically apart, God knit together hearts and laid the foundation for a worshipping community that longed for more.
When in-person gatherings were finally allowed, God provided a meeting place at Wattle House in Bethsaida Park. For three years, Wattle House became a sacred home—where a new body of Christ was launched, worship was lifted, friendships were forged, and faith was nurtured.
Yet the story was still unfolding. In 2023, God led us into a new chapter as the church leased land along Kikuyu–Kamangu Road. With prayer and sacrifice, what was once a thick forest was gradually reimagined into a gathering place for worship. In January 2024, the Journey Village family walked into its new home—a sign that God delights in transforming wilderness into sanctuaries of His presence.
Today, we continue to live into that founding vision. Journey Village is a community of faith, a people learning to live the way of Christ, as we encounter the risen Christ, be formed in His way, becoming His body for the sake of the world around us. Our story is still being written, and we believe the best is yet to come.
